I just installed Freemil
It is a free software without any support, they say there is a yahoo group.
If anyone know a place I can go for help that would be nice
I just opened an stl file with it
I am thinking about using this one of the smaler machines I would like to make
It does not look user friendls and there are no tutorials

If I can prepaire everything with cambam and then transfer the copies to freemil.
But it really is the pits the way the program is the interface is not good.

One thing about these CAM programs
So far I know how to go from CAD to CAM
How about from the CAM to the cnc machine
I guess when I have the machine all set up things will get clear

So tell me what you guys think about this freemil

gocnc, this site, one of many devoted to free CNC,  looks like it has tutorials on free CNC software, and it mentions FreeMill:

http://cnc4free.org/

I also seen the FreeMill program download on this site, but I have no idea if it includes any tutorials: http://www.mecsoft.com/freemill.shtml

Hello Gabriel, hello to all

After talking about my hull project for model boat, on january to march, 2009, I had a lot of work to set up the CNC.
But today, I machined the first hull in foam (see attached pictures).
It is a "half hull"1 meter long. The tool path gap is 1 millimeter.

The aim of this post is to thank all CNC folks who helped me on machine building and software processing.

I hope to send next post with a picture of a ready-to-sail "full" hull.

Very cool!

I'm glad to see you manged to do what you wanted, and I'm sure that this wasn't an easy project to finish.

It will be neat to see it once it's in the water.
