along the lines of goto telescopes --your program is the first printer port  interface i recall seeing in regard to any astronomical applications.
For me that idea presents some interesting possible solutions. with some input how hard would it be to pick an object (star?) goto and track?
I have 12.5 inch mirror and secondary that I purchased several years back and was waiting for something like your program to come along and
bypass the need for a high priced goto interface. besides unless your doing astronomy photography there is no need just for casual observing.
I have 1 of the classic lx200 8 in goto I am using now. anyway just a passing thought.

I think a lot of the code from the Sun Tracker program could be reused to do what you want. More would have to be added though. For calculating the position of the stars in particular. It's totally doable, but it would probably be a lot of work. I've surprised that there isn't already something out there.

I have an interest in astronomy, but I don't actually own a telescope. Otherwise I might have tried doing this myself.

It's on my list of things I want to try. Of course, its a long list, so it could be awhile. Smiley

I can well understand the "a while". when the time comes -even if a person just entered the current az & al which could be obtained  through any planetarium program-then goto and then track it . it looks like you can adjust the speed in either motor individualy for fine tuning.  -thanks for listening.
