hey guys! It's been a while - sorry :)

Just wanted to post up a link to my latest project - I built a Reprap 3D Printer :)

Still working out the kinks but it's printing :)

I want one!!!

Someday I want to see if I can retrofit my CNC with an extruder so I can do a little experimenting with 3D printing. Does the cost of that plastic get to be expensive if you do a lot of printing, or is it really just on the order of pennies for each smallish sized part?

You can get a pound of plastic for like $18 and that would last for many many prints I think (I haven't really printed that much yet) but I'm still working off the samples they gave me :)

I looked at putting an extrude on the CNC machine but you still need a way to control the hot end that melts the plastic and extruder that feeds it, and there are some solutions out there but I first wanted to go with something tried and true before reinventing the wheel :) for ABS plstic (the better to print with) you also need a hot plate to print ON - so to make a hot plate big enough for the CNC machine would be crazy :)
