Free software
« on: May 06, 2010, 08:43:18 AM »
I still have not made my cnc machine and I still dont have the computer to use linux system to work with
Hopefully I will make this idea into reality

In the Cambam tutorials mach3 is used as the control software.
Here I see few free programs for the same purpose
What do you folks think of these

CNCpro DOS cnc control software.

TurboCNC DOS cnc control software.

CamBam Windows based CAM software.

EMC Linux based cnc control software.

NCPlot Free Free CAM software.

Stickfont Free stick font to Gcode software for engraving.

NotePadPlus Text editor for editing Gcode.

I was looking at the cncpro
I could not find a web site or a place to download the free software
Also in the yahoo group people have asked questions and nobody has replied.

I'd use EMC2. It's probably the easiest to set up. Of course, it's the only one I've used before, so I'm obviously biased.

Ya I like EMC2 as well. Considering it works really well for being free.

Also you can check out www.cnc4free.org for other free software.
